Dear Editor,

I wish to congratulate Dilruba Shahana for writing a wonderful article on how a migrant has to deal with medicine. I fully endorse the facts and support the advice that imbued from it. Helal Murshedi championed in filling up the gaps to explain the legal aspect of PBS medicine. I thought it would be worthwhile to mention to your readers that if we stop buying herbal and supplementary medical products eg minerals and vitamins ( a 6 billion dollar industry )and donate this money to Medicare then each prescription items would cost us half of what we are paying today ( ie $10-12 instead of $23 + dispensing fee ).

The basis of taking vitamin tablets arises from the visionary research of Dr Linus Pauling( double nobel laureate )in 1950s and 60s that led to the hypothesis of `orthomolecular medicine`. This hypothesis has long been discredited even before the death of Dr Linus Pauling ( died 1994 )but there are followers who are still pursuing researches to find the answer to the question of the `idea of the right molecules in the right amounts`. I hope this is not another gloomy story of medicine. Many thanks for your good work.
