Local Woman of the Year Award
Sabrin Farooqui has been awarded with ‘Local Woman of the Year’ for the Bankstown Electorate of NSW on the International Women’s Day 2018 for her contribution to Bankstown and the broader community.
Sabrin is a mother, working full time in the Regulatory Compliance Branch of the Fair Work Commission. Sabrin also volunteers to assist refugee settlement with ‘Settlement Services International’, while working to improve disadvantaged women’s mental health in Bangladesh through a non-profit organisation ‘SiTara's Story’.
Sabrin also organises various events for Bangladeshi Community in Australia to promote the local talents. She has recently organised an event named “Bangla Art Exhibition 2018” in NSW State Library to celebrate multicultural March (an initiative of NSW state government). It portrayed Bangladeshi lives in Australia through various Bengali Art forms.
