Iftekhar Abdullah becomes the
Fellow of Royal Australian Institute of Architects



Bangladeshi Australian architect Iftekhar Abdullah becomes the Fellow of Royal Australian Institute of Architects (FRAIA) on 24 November 2021. He is the first Bangladeshi Architect, who became a fellow of this royal institute.

The Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) Fellows are recognised with the AIA’s highest membership honour for their exceptional work and contributions to architecture and society. Architects who have made significant contributions to the profession & society and who exemplify architectural excellence can become a member of the AIA College of Fellows.

Iftekhar Abdullah was born in Kaliganj, Satkhira, Bangladesh. He graduated from the Department of Architecture of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 1984. Architect Iftekhar Abdullah, the principal of the Ideas Sydney wing, was an A+ member of the Australian Institute of Architects and an accredited professional of the Green Building Council Australia (GBCA).
