Chartered Professional Engineers'
Seminar in Sydney



Press release: The Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) Australia chapter and Engineers Australia (EA) jointly organised a historic Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) seminar for Bangladeshi Engineers at EA Auditorium, 8 Thomas St, Chatswood, NSW 2067 on 04 December, 2018.



The program started with networking among more than 120 engineers graduated from different engineering universities of Bangladesh. This was followed by chairing of H.E. Bangladesh High Commissioner Mr. Mohammad Sufiur Rahman, CEO of Engineers Australia Mr Peter McIntyre, IEB Australia chapter's President Engr. Abdul Matin and IEB Australia chapter's general secretary Engr. Dr. AHM Kamruzzaman. H.E. Mr. Mohammad Sufiur Rahman & Mr Peter McIntyre were then formally inaugurated this special seminar.

H.E. Mohammad Sufiur Rahman delivered an insightful special speech all about Bangladesh including engineering education system, major challenging projects, growth in engineering sector and future prospect of engineers in Bangladesh. He also addressed how EA and IEB Australia chapter can bring strong bilateral relation between these two countries, in particular getting full signatory of Washington Accord Accreditation for IEB accredited engineering universities. The CEO of EA Mr Peter McIntyre then conveyed speech, who addressed strong commitment of maintaining good relation between EA and IEB. Mr. McIntyre also acknowledged how Bangladeshi engineers are contributing in Australian economy. Thereafter, two prominent engineers from the IEB Australia chapter's executive committee namely Engr. Dr Rafiqul Islam and Associate Professor Engr. Dr. Abdur Razzak handed over crest with flower to the honourable High Commissioner and CEO respectively.

The CPEng seminar was then started with the presentation by four speakers namely Dr. AHM Kamruzzaman, Mr. Greg Ewing, Mr. Paul Sloam, Mr. Deon Rowley and Mr. Noriman Mak. In line with the objectives of IEB Australia chapter and to inform honourable CEO of EA, H.E. Bangladesh High Commissioner and engineers, Dr. Kamruzzaman delivered a presentation on the topic ““Challenges and ways forward for future engineers-IEB Australia chapter's initiative”“. Dr. Kamruzzaman addressed various challenges including why CPEng is necessary for better job prospects in Australia and how this professional certificate can be of better help for getting full signatory of Washington Accreditation status of BD engineering universities. Mr. Greg Ewing, Mr. Paul Sloam, Mr. Deon Rowley and Mr. Noriman Mak from EA were then conducted a group session on the ““Process of getting into CPEng”“ with a lively questions and answers session from many enthusiastic mid and senior engineers.

Following the presentations, IEB Australia chapter's executive committee members including Engr. Shafiq Shuvo, Engr. Hasan Ziad, Engr. Rashid Patwary and Engr. Jesmeen Keya handed over flowers to these honourable speakers. At the end, the closing remarks speech was delivered by Engr. Abdul Matin with the emphasis given to the whole hearted gratitude to EA’s cooperation for organising this historic seminar, and bilateral relation established between IEB and Engineers Australia.
