দ্বিতীয় স্মৃতিসৌধ! আনিসুর রহমানঃ গত ২১ শে ফেব্রুয়ারি ২০২১, সিডনি বাঙালি পাড়া নামে পরিচিত ল্যাকেম্বার নিকটবর্তী পিল পার্কে আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবসের একটি স্মৃতিসৌধ উন্মোচন করা হয়েছে। বাংলাদেশি কমিউনিটির উদ্যোগে এবং অর্থায়নে ক্যান্টারবেরি-ব্যাংকসটাউন কাউন্সিল সৌধটি নির্মাণ করে। সৌধটির মোড়ক উন্মোচন করেন কাউন্সিলের মেয়র খাল আশফুর এবং ফেডারেল এমপি টনি বার্ক। অনুষ্ঠানে আরো উপস্থিত ছিলেন, কনসাল জেনারেল খন্দকার মাসুদুল আলম, ডেপুটি মেয়র রেচেল হারিকা, ওয়েন্ডি লিনজি এমপি, কাউন্সিলর ফিলিপ মাদ্রেজা, কাউন্সিলর মোহাম্মদ হুদা, প্রাক্তন কাউন্সিলর শাহে জামান টিটো এবং বাংলাদেশ কমিউনিটির বেশকিছু আমন্ত্রিত অতিথিবৃন্দ। কভিডের কারণে অতিথি সংখ্যা সীমিত রাখা হয়েছে।
সৌধটি নির্মাণের ব্যাপারে ২০১৯ সালের ২৮ শে জুলাই বেলমোর কমিউনিটি সেন্টারে একটি কমিউনিটি মিডিয়া কনফারেন্সের আয়োজন করা হয়েছিল। অনুষ্ঠানে মুনির বিশ্বাস ডিজাইনটিকে প্রাইমারি ডিজাইন হিসেবে উল্লেখ করে বলেন এর আকৃতি এবং আশপাশের জিনিসগুলোর কতটুকু নির্মাণ করা যাবে তা আমাদের আর্থিক সামর্থ্যের উপর নির্ভর করবে। নির্মিত সৌধটি প্রস্তাবিত ডিজাইন থেকে সম্পূর্ণ ভিন্ন। ডিজাইন প্রসঙ্গে ২৮শে জুলাই এর প্রেস কনফারেন্সে কাউন্সিলর মোহাম্মদ হুদা জানিয়েছিলেন, কমিউনিটি ভিত্তিক কোন সৌধ নির্মাণ এর ব্যাপারে ক্যান্টারবেরি-ব্যাংকসটাউন কাউন্সিল তাদের নিজস্ব নীতিমালা অনুসরণ করে থাকে। তিনি আরো বলেন, সৌধের ডিজাইন কাউন্সিলের অস্ট্রেলিয়ান ডিজাইনারদের মাধ্যমে হতে হবে।
প্রস্তাবিত নকশা থেকে সম্পূর্ণ ভিন্ন একটি নকশার সৌধ নির্মাণ নিয়ে কমিউনিটিতে অসন্তোষ সৃষ্টি হয়েছে। এ ব্যাপারে উদ্যোক্তাদের কর্তব্য হবে অবিলম্বে তাদের ব্যাখ্যা কমিউনিটিকে অবগত করা। নির্মিত সৌধের ডিজাইন সম্পর্কে কাউন্সিলের কর্তৃক প্রচারিত ব্যাখ্যা নিচে দেয়া হলঃ  পিসি বা ল্যাপটপে লেখাগুলি পরিষ্কার পড়া গেলেও মোবাইলে পড়া যাচ্ছে না তাই ইংরেজিতে টাইপ করে নিচে দেয়া হলঃ Canterbury-Bankstown Monument: The design intent when the concept was created is to represent the following: • Depicting a mother character in the front with two children to portray the meaning of transferring the mother language to next generation. The imagery of the woman is drawn in a way to show her looking up in pride, while the children have been characterised in a dynamic way to show how the language evolves and develops over time. • Patination in the monument is inspired by Indigenous art, drawn in a way to look like shrubs planted in the ground around the family, picturing the language that has roots in the land and grows with the people. • The planting displays 20 flowers, 10 on each side of the family to represent the people who lost their lives in the 1952 events. Ten on each side suggests that despite their falling in the past, they still lead the way for their family in their future. • The deep green and red at top references the Bengali flag, while being transformed into sun and clouds as a background to complete the whole image of the monument. • On the back face of the monument, the sentence, "Remember your mother language and pass it on to your children. Revive it by speaking, reading and writing every time you can. Make it live within you", is written in five languages commonly spoken in the Canterbury-Bankstown area. These are Bengali, Arabic, Greek, English and the nearest meaning of the sentence in Dharug - the Aboriginal language of the Dharug tribe of Sydney. • The sentence and translations are forming an ear abstract shape, which is a vital instrument in language learning, communication and passing culture through generations. |
