Chief Justice Ruhul Amin
Chief Justice of Bangladesh Md. Ruhul Amin visited Sydney recently. A community reception was hosted in his honour by Prof. Anis Chowdhury and Mr. Nazrul Islam in an Indian restaurant in Anangrove. This should serve as a wake up call for the hibernating Bangladeshi Associations in Sydney. Accompanied by other members of the delegation a soft spoken Chief Justice explained the true meaning of the recently achieved independence of judiciary in Bangladesh.

Sri Jagadananda Barua Passed Away
Sydney's well known artist Uday Sanker Barua's father Sri Jagadananda Barua passed away in Chittagong on Thursday, 14-Feb-2008. He was 88. A quiet achiever Sri Jagananda Barua was a dedicated educator, acclaimed musician and prolific author. He wrote twenty five books covering a wide range of disciplines; classical music, mathematics, dance, astrology and many more. He is survived by his wife Srimoti Pratibha Barua, 2 daughters, 3 sons and 13 grandchildren. We express our sincere condolences to all the members of his family. May his soul rest in peace!
